Introduction
In June 2021, the American Heart Association released a Scientific Statement on the interrelation between obstructive sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease and provided its recommendations for screening, diagnostics, and treatment within the cardiology setting.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is highly prevalent in cardiovascular disease patients, seen in almost 40-80% of patients with hypertension, heart failure, coronary artery disease, pulmonary hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and stroke. Despite this high prevalence, OSA remains underrecognized and undertreated in cardiovascular practice.
This on-demand webinar features experts in heart failure, electrophysiology, general cardiology, and sleep medicine coming together to discuss the implications of the AHA Statement and the impact that sleep apnea management has on their patients and clinics. A panel discussion with Q&A session moderated by AHA statement co-author Virend Somers, MD closes the activity.
